The Township of South Glengarry launched the Emily Project - Farm 911 Civic Addressing initiative in June 2020. Vacant and non-building lots such as farm fields and other rural land locations are now able to receive civic address signs which will greatly aid first responders if ever there is a request for service at the location. An added benefit to the agricultural community is that the signage can be used as a field identifier for suppliers and custom operators.

Please select a type of property for the 9-1-1 civic sign

Legal Description of Property Requiring 9-1-1 Sign

There is a fee of $47.00 to cover the cost of the blade and $61.00 to cover the cost of the post of civic addressing signage for residential property. The fee is $35.00 for the blade and $25.00 for the post for farm property.

The required fee must be paid in advance or on pickup of the sign and post (cash or cheque only). Fees for civic signs related to building permits may be included with building permit fees on issuance.

To determine a civic address, a distance measurement is taken to the centre of the driveway or entrance to property; therefore, the entrance MUST be and should be marked. (See location plan below.)
